What are the 4 steps to deep clean a kitchen?
After all the scrubbing your bathroom requires, the kitchen is the next in line. You can make sure it’s safe and completely germ-free by using a thorough approach and some great hacks. Here’s how to do it right in just 4 steps:
Step #1: Sink
Your sink is definitely the spot with the largest amount of bacteria and germs due to the wet environment and all the food leftovers that go through it. Make a solution of one-half quart of water, one teaspoon of dish soap, and one ounce of bleach, and spray the entire surface. Let sit for about 5 minutes and thoroughly scrub. Rinse with hot water and let air dry.
If you don’t want to make homemade solutions, you can also use a specialized kitchen cleaner, or just soap and water.
Step #2: Refrigerator
In order for your fridge to operate efficiently, you need to tackle both the outside and inside of it. The first thing to do is unplug it, wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth, then use your vacuum to remove dust from the coils. Once done, you can plug it back in and move on to the interior.
Remove everything from the fridge, dispose of any expired food, and recycle containers. Take out any removable drawers and shelves, and spray the entire surface with a solution of equal parts of white vinegar and water, and a teaspoon of dish soap. Let it sit while you soak the drawers and shelves in hot, soapy water.
Wipe down all surfaces with a damp cloth, dry them with a clean cloth, and replace the drawers, shelves, and food.
Step #3: Oven
If your oven is letting out strange smells while preheating, that’s a clear sign it could use a deep scrubbing. To begin with, take out the racks and load them in the dishwasher or soak in hot soapy water in the sink.
Spray the oven with a mix of two cups of water and two tablespoons of dish soap, and let it sit for at least 5 minutes. Scrub with the abrasive side of the sponge and rinse with a damp cloth. Use a clean, dry cloth to finish off the cleaning.
Step #4: Cabinets
Your cabinets can accumulate quite a bit of dust, crumbs, and other dirt. Empty them out completely and vacuum all the corners. Unscrew the knobs and and pulls and give them a wash in hot soapy water.
Grab an old toothbrush and tackle the nooks and crannies around the doors. Wipe both the inside and outside of the cabinets with a damp, soapy cloth, then rinse with a damp one, and dry. Refill your cabinets.
